sick

love is a sickness

Friends, lately I’ve been sick.

sick

I mean, legitimately sick. Like, severe sinus infection for the past four days.  Gross.  I know.  But it got me to thinking about how I NEVER get sick- my immune system must be crazy strong or something.  In fact, I think the last time I was this sick was roughly seven or eight years ago, when I contracted bronchitis from a girl I was dating.  Not because she didn’t wash her hands, but rather because I was so crazy about her that I couldn’t help myself but kiss her, despite her illness.

But don’t you see??  That’s kind of what love will do to you!  When the person you’re with is a miserable sloppy mess, and you know 100% for sure as you’re locking lips that this will eventually land you in the emergency room and on anti-biotics, but in your mind it’s completely worth seven days of misery just to feel that close to her for the next ten minutes- that’s saying something.  Actually, I think she even pulled away saying “wait, we can’t do this.  I’m going to get you sick”, but it didn’t matter to me. At that time, nothing else mattered.

Afterwards, she felt terrible, apologizing daily for getting me sick, but I would always respond “Stop apologizing. I knew what I was doing.”  I think that’s important to mention.  If you’re going to insist on kissing a girl when she’s sick, don’t hold it over her head for the next week when you feel like you’re dying.  Man up and take your medicine, you knew what you were getting in to- and dude, it was TOTALLY worth it.

  1. Yikes! I’ve kissed a girl knowing she had a cold, but I’m not sure I would’ve done the same thing with bronchitis! I think there are other ways to be caring and affectionate when the person you love is under the weather. I try to focus on those areas. Side note- I miss the fact your blog doesn’t come up in my reader since switching your website. Still enjoying your posts!

    • Thanks, Dax! That was a major disappointment for me when I realized I will no longer be in the reader, but I’m pleased as punch that you’re still following, thank you so much! Okay, so kissing that girl may have not been the smartest move in the world, but seriously, you should have seen her lips. Like pillows. warm, soft, pillows.

  2. I hope you do feel better, and I’m glad you felt as if the kiss was worth it! Thanks for following my blog, The Review Board. Make sure to check out No Labels Unleashed and The Fame and The Shame, two other blogs I also host on WordPress.

    • haha thank you! The doctor put me on some good meds, so I should be back on my feet in no time. Thank you for reading! I’ll have to check out your other blogs.
